How-To: Obtain A Battlefield-Heroes Beta Key

// April 28th, 2009 // Games

If you haven’t already heard about Battlefield-Heroes, well it’s the latest installment in Electronic Art’s Battlefield franchise, developed by DICE. The major difference between this Battlefield game and the others is that Battlefield-Heroes is free-to-play — that’s right! It’s free! Enjoy all of the Battlefield goodness that one would expect in a Battlefield game, for free.

Heroes has been in closed beta for a long time now. Beta keys have been sent out in waves, with the last wave being the largest and greatest of them all — all you have to do is signup with one of their sponsors, and you get one! Just like that, no waiting at all (depending on which sponsor you sign up for, that is). Read more after the jump..

Alright, so there are a handful of sponsors to choose from — which do you choose? Well from my experience, the most graceful sponsor I have signed up for is Fileplanet. The steps to obtaining a valid beta key follow:

  1. Go here, and click the big “Signup Here” button
  2. Register a new account, or login with a pre-existing account
  3. Go back to here, click the “Signup Here” button again
  4. Now you should be presented with a different form — the actual beta form. Just fill in your first and last name, click continue
  5. You’ll be asked to enter a CAPTCHA code, do so
  6. Congratulations! You now have a bet key!

Now if you’re itching to give away keys, and you own a G-Mail account, then you can spoof this system. G-Mail reserves all variations of your e-mail address with dots presented (ex: you signed up as “john.smith@gmail.com”, however you can recieve e-mail from “j.o.hn.s.m.ith@gmail.com”, and even “johnsmith@gmail.com”) — this means that you can register multiple times at Fileplanet with a different variation of dots in your e-mail address each time, and obtaining a boat load of valid beta keys to hand out to your friends.. this saves them the hassle of signing up, and streamlines you getting to play with others.

Okay, I have this key.. now what?
Fileplanet should have sent you a pretty detailed e-mail on what to do with your beta key to the e-mail address you registered with. However, all you need to know is to go to http://beta.battlefield-heroes.com/ and follow the steps there. When asked for your beta key, just use the key you obtained from Fileplanet.

Have fun, and enjoy playing the Battlefield-Heroes beta!

    Mmm, that’s possible. However, it depends on what site you signed up on.. I know that when I tried it, it worked. Perhaps they’ve changed it =)
